About Blade Materials:

Nearly all blades for paper cutters are actually two pieces of metal permanently bonded together. The area along the cutting edge is made of a strip of hardened steel or carbide that can withstand the forces of cutting tall stacks of material. The harder material inlaid in the blade also can stay sharper for much longer than the softer steels that makes up the majority of the blade.

Each type of inlay has different characteristics:

High Speed Steel(HSS)-This very hard, high quality material will perform similar to the standard inlay, but will keep a sharp edge for up to 5 times longer between sharpenings. Less sharpenings means more production, and less downtime from blade changes. We recommend this blade for any high production cutter.
