Features
This tool is different from the standard anvil tool (G47768) in how the pin is pressed into an undersized bore to minimize or eliminate the expansion of the hub of the pin from the peening ("mushrooming" the end) step of installation. The bottom of the tool is threaded to 1) additionally support the pin after it was pressed into the tool, and 2) to push the pin out of the tool after peening.
With the standard installation anvil, due to the forces created from peening, the hub will expand in the anvil to the point of being too wide to fit into its mounting hole in the clamp and requires difficult hand-finishing. This tool minimizes the expansion to the point that hand-finishing is not necessary.
Note: Replacing the pins in a false clamp requires a high level of skill and is typically done by a paper cutter technician or even better, by a machinist.
