About Hydraulic Maintenance
All hydraulic systems should have their oil changed and/or filters replaced or cleaned at regular intervals. The intervals depend on manufacturers recommendations. Here are some standards recommended by the most common brands.

Polar cutters- Polar recommends oil changes every 6000 hours (every 3 years at one 8hr shift per day/ every year at three shifts per day). The filter should be cleaned if present, and entire reservoir wiped clean of residue.

Most Polars use ISO 32 weight of oil. Most reservoirs use 2-1/2 to 4 gallons. Our product number is G33801 .

Challenge cutters- Every year at one shift per day/ every 6 months for two or more shifts. Filters, if present,  should be changed every year ( Filters available- G24852 ) . On horizontal motor systems, the oil tank should be removed and the tank wiped clean and the screen removed and blown out with compressed air. On vertical motor systems, the motor should be removed and the tank cleaned out.

Challenge recommends using ISO 46 weight oil. Our product is G33802 .
